Infiltration / Inflow Information

WKUD has established a dedicated I/I (infiltration/inflow) crew to work on infiltration and inflow. Although it is unreasonable to expect 100% removal of I/I. Experience has shown that possibly up to about 30% of infiltration can be cost effectively removed. However, up to 60% of the inflow can be removed in some cases. WKUD has installed flow monitoring equipment at key manholes located throughout the collection system. Smoke testing is performed where applicable during dry months. WKUD has purchased state-of-the-art video equipment to assist in the visual inspection of the collection system. WKUD takes its responsibility very serious and is dedicated to the removal of I/I.
